In History, we aim to develop the children’s historical understanding through engaging and meaningful themes. We strive to develop the children’s historical knowledge with an understanding of how the past impacts upon the present. Their enquiry skills are developed through evaluation of evidence, logical thinking and working systematically to ask and answer questions.

In Key Stage 1, children are taught to consider changes within living memory, events beyond living memory and the lives of significant individuals in the past. In Key Stage 2, children develop their sense and understanding of chronology through local, British and world history.

In history, children learn about people, events and places, both from the recent past and the more distant past. We work hard at making the subjects real and full of practical experience.
