Equality

We are an inclusive school and aim to provide equal opportunities for all. Axminster Community Primary Academy strives to ensure that the culture and ethos of the school are such that, whatever the abilities and needs of members of the school community, everyone is equally valued and treats one another with respect. Pupils should be provided with the opportunity to experience, understand and value diversity.

First Federation Trust recognises that certain groups in society have historically been disadvantaged on account of unlawful discrimination they have faced on the basis of their race, gender, disability, religion and belief, sexual orientation or age. Our Equality Policy puts in place a range of actions to eliminate prejudice, unlawful discrimination and victimisation within the trust, its school communities and workforce.

The Equality Act 2010 requires the governing board to publish specific and measurable equality objectives. Our equality objectives are based on our analysis of data and other information. They focus on those areas where we have agreed to take action to promote equality and eliminate discrimination. Please see the link to the policy and objectives below.

We have an accessibility plan for the school which can be seen via the link below or in the school office. Equality for disabled pupils is included as an explicit aim in all of the school’s policies and is supported by the school’s other policies including:

  • Accessibility Plan
  • Admissions policy
  • Attendance Policy
  • Behaviour Policy
  • Equality Policy & Objectives
  • School improvement plan
  • Educational visits policy
  • SEN policy
