School Music Plan
At Axminster Community Primary Academy, we believe that music is a vital part of a well-rounded education. Our music curriculum aims to inspire a lifelong love and appreciation of music in all our pupils.
Our new Music Development Plan sets out how we will deliver a high-quality, progressive music education for all pupils from Reception to Year 6. Key elements of the plan include:
- Ensuring all pupils receive at least one hour of music teaching per week, in line with the government's national plan for music education.
- Developing a coherent music curriculum that builds key skills and knowledge year-on-year, allowing pupils to become increasingly confident and accomplished musicians.
- Expanding opportunities for pupils to learn instruments, perform, and compose music, both within the curriculum and through extracurricular activities.
- Strengthening partnerships with our local Music Hub and other external music providers to enhance our in-school provision.
- Investing in quality resources, instruments and technology to support high-quality music teaching and learning.
- Offering tailored professional development for all staff to develop their confidence and expertise in teaching music.
Through this music development plan, we aim to ensure that every child at Axminster Community Primary Academy leaves us as a well-rounded musician, equipped with a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the power of music. We look forward to seeing our pupils flourish as musicians over the coming years.
