PE

On a very chilly afternoon Axminster Primary School hosted the Acorn Academy Year 5/6 Netball Tournament with Axminster coming out on top and winning the event. In POOL A we had Marshwood, Membury, Axminster and Thorncombe B and in POOL B Mrs Ethelston’s, Loders, Chardstock and Thorncombe A. In Pool A, Axminster won after winning two games and drew the other and Marshwood were runners up, Thorncombe B 3rd and Membury 4th. In POOL B, Mrs Ethelston’s won after winning two of their games and drawing the other and Chardstock were runners up after winning two games and losing one, Thorncombe A were third and Loders 4th.

In the semi finals Axminster won a one sided a fare against Chardstock winning 8-2 following some fine shooting from Luke and Charlie. David from Chardstock was superb in defence and the score could of been greater if it wasn’t for his fine individual performance. The other semi final was a lot closer with Marshwood winning 6-5 in golden time after Maru-Jane scored the winner. Mrs Ethelston’s played well all the way through the tournament and it was cruel that they went out on golden goal.

In the final Axminster started the brighter and found themselves 3-0 up after 2 minutes with goals from Eryn (2) and Charlie. Marshwood came back into the game following a long range shot from Sophie but Axminster restored their 3 goal lead after Eryn scored from a tight angle. Good defence from both teams enabled there to be no further scores which resulted in Axminster triumphing.
